Why our plants are right for your projects:
1. SEED PROPAGATION
Most
of our propagation is done from seed. This allows us to maintain
provenance records. We can grow site-specific plants for your
project. Greater genetic diversity results when not using
cuttings/clones, resulting in a heartier plant.
2. MYCORRHIZAE
Mycorrhizae
is added to all our plugs.This soil fungi forms a mutually beneficial
relationship with the roots of a plant. The majority of plants
naturally form these associations in their respective habitats. This
provides the following benefits:
- improved root growth
- improved nutrient and water uptake
- reduced drought stress
- improved plant growth
- reduced transplant shock
3. HIGH STANDARDS
Plants are grown to meet and/or exceed the British Columbia Nursery and Landscape Association standards.
4. CONSTANT IMPROVEMENT
We
conduct on-site research and trials to uncover better methods to grow
our crops for increased vigour or efficiency. We also support industry
research. Dr. Janice Elmhirst works in our nursery regularly and we
are business partners with BCIT's Centre for the Advancement of Green
Roof Technology.
5.EXPERIENCE
We have been working with
reclamation companies for nearly twenty years. Our plants are used by
Municipal volunteer organizations such as Evergreen and SHaRP for
restoration and habitat creation. NATS' has grown a whole lot of plants
over the years and current production is at 2.6 million plants a year!
6. SELECTION
Our
catalogue lists all the usual suspects, which we grow in great
quantity. It also lists some fantastic and unique species which will
enhance and support any planting.
